Are you curious about the hidden gems, rich history, and vibrant culture of Madrid? Then I have great news for you, I’ll be covering all this and more in my new podcast, The Making of Madrid (on Spotify, Apple Podcasts and YouTube podcasts). As a freelance journalist and long-time resident of this incredible city, I’ve gained a few insights into life in Madrid but will also be learning more in interviews with other experts.
Who Am I?
Ever since I moved here with my Spanish husband and I moved here 12 years ago, I’ve called Madrid home. Over the years, I’ve been sharing my passion for Madrid’s history in this blog and have also been writing about the city in publications such as Lonely Planet, The Financial Times, The Guardian, and Al Jazeera. Now, I’m bringing that same excitement and knowledge to a podcast format.
What’s in Store for You
So, what can you expect? Think of it as a mix of travel tips, cultural insights, and interviews with fascinating guests, all tied together with a bit of humour and storytelling. If you’ve ever been on one of my tours or caught me at Madrid Open Mic, you know I love telling a good story! In The Making of Madrid podcast, I’ll explore both the well-known landmarks and the off-the-beaten-path corners that make Madrid such a special place as well as giving tips on how to get the best out of city life.
Sneak Peek at the First Episodes
In our first few episodes, you can look forward to discussions on everything from Día de los Santos vs. Halloween, exploring the tension between traditional and modern Spain, to interviews with experts like Fulbright scholar Caroline Fish and historian Clare Starkie. I’ll also be sharing tidbits from my own experience and travel adventures around the city.
